Each of the active ingredients in Anusol Plus HC suppositories have properties that can aid in the treatment of piles.
Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild steroid which can help to reduce inflammation.
Balsam peru has a protective action on sore areas, which could help healing; it is also mildly antiseptic.
Benzyl benzoate also has mild antiseptic properties.
Zinc oxide and bismuth salts are mildly antiseptic and astringent, helping to soothe raw areas.
What are haemorrhoids/piles?
Piles is a very common condition which will affect around 40% of people at some point during their lives. There are various different treatment options available to resolve this problem, but many people are too embarrassed to seek medical help for piles.
It is caused by varicose veins developing inside the rectum or anus, which leads to swelling. As a result, inflammation, itching and rectal bleeding are common symptoms, particularly when you have a bowel movement.
Haemorrhoids are due to an increased pressure in the blood vessels around the anus. If you are overweight, obese or sit down for long periods of time, you are more likely to develop haemorrhoids. They can also occur when you have diarrhoea or constipation.
Using Anusol HC Plus suppositories can help to relieve this uncomfortable condition.
Certain lifestyle changes can help to reduce your risk of suffering from piles. These include:
- Eating a high-fibre diet
- Taking regular exercise
- Cutting down on how much tea, coffee and alcohol you drink
- Eating fewer foods that are high in salt, sugar and fats
- Eating more fresh fruit, vegetables and fish
