Co-codamol can prove an effective treatment for aches and pains when other pain killers such as Ibuprofen and Paracetamol haven’t worked. Co codamol contains a mixture of two different types of painkillers, Paracetamol and Codeine. It is commonly used to treat a multiple of aches and pains that range from headaches and muscular pains, to severe migraines and toothache. This medication comes in the form of Tablets.
Co-codamol is one of the UK’s most widely prescribed pain relief medications and is used to treat a number of causes of mild to moderate pain. It is classed as a compound analgesic which means that there are a number of active ingredients that work together to provide effective treatment in combating painful symptoms.
Co Codamol tablets are available in 3 different strengths, the lower strength capsules can be bought over the counter in many local pharmacies, whereas the higher strength capsules (30/500mg) can only be bought with a prescription. 30/500mg co codamol tablests consist of 30mg of Codeine and 500mg of Paracetamol.
Paracetamol and Codeine form an effective treatment and both work in different ways to relieve pain. When our body feels pain, the area being affected will send a message to our brain to tell us that we are experiencing some form of pain or discomfort. Paracetamol works by blocking these messages getting passed to the brain.
Codeine works in a similar way and targets our central nervous system and brain to block pain signals being sent to the rest of our body, resulting in our body being unable to register the pain and the affected area. Codeine can be a highly addictive ingredient and belongs to a group of medications called opiates which need to be taken with care.
Co-codamol is also available and sold under different branded names such as Kapake and Solpadol, both of which are available to buy online at Medicine Direct.
This dosage of Co codamol is only available from a licensed pharmacy/doctor. Lower strengths are available from over the counter locations in many local pharmacies. The 30/500mg dosage measurement is in relation to the amount of Codeine and Paracetamol that is present in the tablets. For this particular dosage each tablet consists of 30mg of Codeine and 500mg of Paracetamol. The dosage of paracetamol found in Co-codamol tablets usually stays the same, whilst the dosage of codeine can vary from 8mg, 15mg and 30mg.
You can also buy codeine 30mg online at Medicine Direct which contains the same level of Codeine per tablet as co-codamol tablets, however it does not contain any paracetamol.
