What is Balneum Plus Cream used to treat?

Balneum Plus Cream is an emollient used in the treatment of itchy and dry skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis and pruritus.

How does Balneum Cream work?

Your skin dries out when too much water evaporates from the surface. This problem gets worse as we age; it is made worse by washing with hot water and soap, which removes the layer of natural oil on the surface of the skin.

Balneum Plus Cream contains two active ingredients: urea and lauromacrogols, which both work in different ways to treat skin problems. Lauromacrogols has a soothing and softening effect on the skin, which relieves itching, and works by replacing the essential oils in dry skin. This helps to prevent the skin from losing moisture.

Urea is a substance that is naturally found in the skin and helps it to retain water. A lot of people who suffer with psoriasis and eczema have reduced amounts of urea in the skin, so Balneum Plus Cream can help to replace this substance.

Applying Balneum Plus Cream to your skin allows urea to penetrate the stratum corneum, where it will quickly absorb and retain water, increasing your skin's ability to hold moisture. This means the skin is rehydrated once again.

Urea is mixed with a moisturising base that provides a layer of oil to the skin's surface, preventing the water from escaping the surface of the skin. These actions soften and soothe the skin, reducing scaling and itching.

What are the benefits of using Balneum Cream?

This treatment is generally considered to be very safe to use and has only a small number of side effects.
