About Oxytetracycline Tablets
  1. Oxytetracycline 250mg Tablets

Acne affects 95% of us between the ages of 11 and 30. There is no quick fix when it comes to treating acne, instead; acne treatments are intended to fight against the acne causing bacteria and gradually clear it from the surface of the skin. You can buy Oxytetracycline 250mg tablets online from Medicine Direct, complete your online consultation and get started on your acne treatment plan.

    What is Oxytetracycline?

Oxytetracycline belongs to the broad-spectrum tetracycline group of antibiotics. It is primarily prescribed to treat acne but can also be used for rosacea and other bacterial infections.

It comes in the form of a tablet and should be used for a minimum of 3 months when treating acne. This medicine is suitable for adults and children over 12 years old.

What is Oxytetracycline used to treat?

Oxytetracycline is most commonly prescribed for treating acne. Acne is a common skin problem, particularly in adolescents and young adults. The most common physical symptoms of this condition are blackheads, whiteheads, and red spots.

This broad-spectrum antibiotic is active against a wide range of bacteria, making it very effective at treating the signs and symptoms of acne by reducing inflammation and fighting against spots and pimples.

Aside from acne, Oxytetracycline can also treat bacterial infections like urine infections, yeast infections, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and chest infections.

    Acne Symptoms

Oxytetracycline typically helps to reduce some of the main signs and symptoms of acne which include:

    • Blackheads
    • Whiteheads
    • Red bumps underneath the skin (papules)
    • Pimples (papules with a pus-filled tip)
    • Nodules, lumps under the skin which can be painful
    • Pus filled lumps under the skin, (Cystic Lesions)

Acne symptoms usually appear on the face, back and chest.

    Rosacea Symptoms

Oxytetracycline also helps to reduce some of the main signs and symptoms of Rosacea which include:

    • Redness that affects the nose, cheeks, and forehead
    • Burning or stinging sensation of the face
    • Broken blood vessels visible on the surface of the skin
    • Small pink or red bumps
    • Dry skin and swelling in areas such as eyelids

Although Oxytetracycline can help with the symptoms of Rosacea, it will not eradicate the triggers of your rosacea. It is recommended adopting lifestyle changes to ensure your rosacea triggers are avoided.

    How does Oxytetracycline work?

Propionibacterium is the name of the bacteria that is most associated with creating spots; it feeds on the sebum that is produced in the skin by the sebaceous glands.

By feeding on the sebum, Propionibacterium produces waste products and fatty acids which irritate the sebaceous glands. This irritation causes the glands to become infected and inflamed, which creates spots and other symptoms of acne.

Oxytetracycline works by helping to prevent bacteria from producing the essential proteins required for bacteria to multiply and grow. As a result, this stops the spread of the infection; any bacteria that remains will either be killed by your immune system or die on its own.
