About Soolantra (Ivermectin) Cream 45g
  1. What is Soolantra cream?

Soolantra is a cream that contains the active ingredient ivermectin, which is a medicine that belongs to the avermectin family of drugs. It is typically prescribed to treat parasite infections.

Soolantra cream is used to reduce the pimples and spots that are associated with rosacea. Although there is no direct cure for rosacea, Soolantra cream usually improves symptoms.

You can only buy Soolantra cream on prescription.

What is Soolantra (ivermectin) cream used to treat?

When applied topically as a cream, Soolantra is used to treat rosacea and is effective at reducing some of the most common symptoms associated with this skin condition such as redness, swelling and pimples.

Why is Soolantra recommended for rosacea?

Ivermectin has been used since 1981 and is featured on the World Health Organisation's List of Essential Medicines.

Clinical studies have shown this medicine to be effective, safe, and well-tolerated, meaning the risk of side effects are minimal.

Soolantra should be applied once daily for up to 4 months (16 weeks), the treatment should be discontinued if there has been no improvement after 3 months (12 weeks). The study also reported that 69% of people rated their improvement of symptoms as excellent or good.

How does Soolantra cream treat rosacea?

Soolantra's active ingredient, ivermectin, is an antiparasitic agent and works to kill parasites like demodex mites, which are associated with skin inflammation and rosacea symptoms.

Although the exact mechanism of action of ivermectin when treating Rosacea is not known, it is believed that its anti-inflammatory and anti-parasitic properties help to relieve the physical symptoms caused by rosacea.

The same study also found that Ivermectin was significantly more effective when compared to other topical treatments for rosacea such as Metronidazole cream. Ivermectin was found to be more effective in improving the quality of life and reducing inflammatory skin lesions in patients.

It should be consistently applied each day, although you only need to use a pea-sized amount.

    Soolantra before and after results
