About Balneum Plus Cream 500g
  1. What is Balneum Plus Cream?

Balneum plus cream is a treatment for:

    • Itching and dry skin
    • Eczema
    • Dermatitis
    • Other scaling skin conditions

Containing two active ingredients Urea and Lauromacrogols, it helps to relieve itching and has also been shown to increase skin moisture for up to 24 hours.

It is suitable for both adults and children. You can buy Balneum Plus Cream without a prescription.

What is Balneum Plus Cream used to treat?

Balneum Plus Cream is used in the treatment of itchy and dry skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis and pruritus.

Eczema is a very common skin problem that can occur in both adults and children. It can cause skin to become itchy, sore, dry and red; these issues can lead to inflammation and cracking of the skin. Using a cream like Balneum Plus can have a highly beneficial impact on this condition.

Why is Balneum Plus Cream recommended for eczema?

This treatment is generally considered to be very safe to use and has only a small number of side effects.

Balneum Plus Cream is renowned for providing moisture to the skin for up to 24 hours after application, making it more effective than other moisturising creams. This works to effectively soothe and hydrate the affected areas of skin.

Applying Balneum Plus Cream to your skin allows urea to penetrate the stratum corneum, where it will quickly absorb and retain water, increasing your skin's ability to hold moisture. This means the skin is rehydrated once again.

How does Balneum Plus Cream work?

Skin dries out when too much water evaporates from the surface. This problem gets worse as we age; it is made worse by washing with hot water and soap, which removes the layer of natural oil on the surface of the skin.

Balneum Plus Cream contains two active ingredients, urea and lauromacrogols, which both work in different ways to treat skin problems. Lauromacrogols has a soothing and softening effect on the skin, which relieves itching and works by replacing the essential oils in dry skin. This helps to prevent the skin from losing moisture.

Urea is a substance that is naturally found in the skin and helps it to retain water. A lot of people who suffer with psoriasis and eczema have reduced amounts of urea in the skin, so Balneum Plus Cream can help to replace this substance.

Urea is mixed with a moisturising base that provides a layer of oil to the skin's surface, preventing the water from escaping the surface of the skin. These actions soften and soothe the skin, reducing scaling and itching.

    Balneum Plus Cream alternatives

Skin conditions vary from person to person, both in terms of severity and where they flare-up on the body. Thankfully, a wide range of treatments are available to help treat the likes of eczema.

Balneum Cream is also available to buy from Medicine Direct. The ingredients contained in this cream vary slightly to Balneum Plus; Balneum contains urea and ceramide, which is a fatty acid that helps to moisturise and strengthen the skin. This is an excellent treatment for when your eczema makes your skin cracked and dry.

Topical corticosteroids are also available, which will relieve skin inflammation and also help to reduce redness and irritation. We sell corticosteroid creams and ointments like Clobetasone and Betnovate, which also comes as a scalp application for skin conditions that affect the scalp.
