What is Betamethasone with Neomycin Cream used to treat?
Betamethasone with Neomycin Cream is a corticosteriod prescription-only treatment for various skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and insect bites.
The two medicines contained in this cream (betamethasone valerate and neomycin sulphate) each work in different ways to relieve the symptoms associated with these conditions.
Betamethasone valerate is a powerful corticosteroid which effectively works to reduce irritation and inflammation of the skin, which are common problems associated with the likes of eczema, insect bites and psoriasis.
Neomycin sulphate is an antibiotic medicine which helps to treat underlying problem by stopping the harmful bacteria from producing the necessary proteins they need to live. This kills the infection. Because some skin conditions can pose a serious risk of infection, the antibacterial properties of this medicine makes it a highly beneficial treatment.
How to use Betamethasone Valerate with Neomycin Cream
Always use Betamethasone with Neomycin Cream exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Read the patient information leaflet thoroughly and speak to your doctor or pharmacist for more information if you are not sure how to use it.
Do not use this medicine on children's skin or anyone's facial skin for longer than five days.
If you are using any other topical medicines at the same time as Betamethasone with Neomycin Cream, you should wait for at least 30 minutes after applying one topical treatment before you apply the next one. This will prevent the treatments from interacting and lessening the effects of one or both of them.

Dosage and Directions
Our pharmacists and prescribers follow NICE guidelines when prescribing Betamethasone with Neomycin Cream.
Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area(s) two or three times a day. Gently rub the cream into the skin until the product has disappeared.
This dose can be lowered to once or twice a day as your condition starts to get better.
If an airtight dressing, such as a bandage, has been covering the affected area of skin, clean the affected area before you apply the product to it. Do not apply the same dressing after use; replace it with a clean dressing.
Wash your hands after each time you apply the product, unless your hands are the treatment area.
If you do not notice an improvement after a few days of applying the product, you should speak to your doctor. If you continually use this product, there is a chance that the infection will become immune to neomycin.
